This policy explains how listings get into LawDirectory.au, what “claimed” and “verified” mean, and how paid placement works. It exists so that the public can trust what they see and so that practices know the rules.
How listings are created
- Unclaimed listings are compiled from publicly available business information. They show the practice’s business contact details and practice areas as published. They are free and carry no badge.
- Claimed listings are controlled by the practice after we have checked the claimant’s authority against the official register of the relevant State or Territory. Claiming is free.
- Verified means we have matched the practice to an entry on an official professional register at the date shown on the listing. It is not a statement about quality, competence or disciplinary history, and the date matters: check the register yourself before engaging a practitioner.
Paid placement
Where offered, paid options buy presentation and visibility: a fuller profile, enquiry features, or a limited number of clearly labelled Featured positions. Paid placement is always disclosed on the page where it appears. Outbound links associated with paid placement carry rel="sponsored". Payment never alters regulatory information, verification status, the practice areas a listing may claim, or the ranking of non-featured results.
What we will not publish
Claims of specialisation or accreditation that the practitioner does not hold; comparative or superlative claims that cannot be substantiated; testimonials or success rates presented in a misleading way; content that breaches the Legal Profession Uniform Law, equivalent State or Territory legislation, or the Australian Consumer Law. Practices remain responsible for their own advertising compliance.
Independence
LawDirectory.au is owned by Content Authority Pty Ltd (ABN 88 651 903 114, ACN 651 903 114), a digital marketing company. We are not a law practice and have no ownership interest in any practice listed. Editorial content is produced under our Editorial Policy.
Corrections
Anyone can report an inaccurate listing or a mislabelled placement to [email protected]. See Data Sources, Corrections & Removal.
