Not legal advice
Everything on LawDirectory.au — directory listings, practice-area pages and legal guides — is general information only. It is not legal advice, it does not take account of your circumstances, and reading it does not create a lawyer–client relationship with us or with any practice listed. Laws differ between Australian States and Territories and change over time.
Time limits
Many legal rights are lost if you do not act within strict time limits (for example, 21 days for unfair dismissal applications to the Fair Work Commission, and limitation periods for personal injury, debt and family provision claims that vary by State). If you think you may have a legal problem, get advice from a qualified practitioner promptly.
Directory information
Listings are compiled from publicly available business information and from details supplied by practices. Unless a listing is marked as claimed and verified, we have not independently confirmed it with the practice. We do not warrant that any listing is complete, current or accurate, and inclusion is not an endorsement or recommendation.
Check practising status yourself
Only the relevant regulator can confirm whether a practitioner currently holds a practising certificate and whether any conditions or disciplinary findings apply:
- New South Wales — Law Society of NSW (solicitor register) and the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner (complaints)
- Victoria — Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner (Register of Lawyers and complaints)
- Queensland — Queensland Law Society (register) and the Legal Services Commission (complaints)
- Western Australia — Legal Practice Board of Western Australia (register) and the Legal Profession Complaints Committee
- South Australia — Law Society of South Australia (register) and the Legal Profession Conduct Commissioner
- Tasmania — Law Society of Tasmania (register) and the Legal Profession Board of Tasmania
- Australian Capital Territory — ACT Law Society and ACT Bar Association
- Northern Territory — Law Society Northern Territory
